Walter S. Snyder

Professor

Ph.D. Stanford University, 1977
M.S. Stanford University, 1973
B.S. Stanford University, 1972

Research: Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, Tectonics

Teaching: Sedimentary & Stratigraphy, Basin Analysis, Geotectonics of Western North America

Student Opportunities: Opportunities include a range of field-based sedimentary geology and tectonic problems that rely on a variety of stratigraphic, geochemical, paleontologic, structural and geochronologic data. Recent and current research has focused on the upper Paleozoic and earliest Mesozoic of the Western US and the Southern Ural Mountains and northern Pre-Caspian Basin, Russia-Kazakhstan. Local Idaho research focuses on the Western Snake River Plain, an excellent field laboratory to study Miocene-Pleistocene fluvial-lacustrine systems.
